A commission for https://www.furaffinity.net/user/e5111/, featuring the demiurge Ameroth from their in-progress Fallen Archons Series.
Val's Notes: Ameroth is an antgonistic force in the series, a goddess whose trappings of light and the sun betray her true nature. It was an interesting challenge to capture that feel for her design, fusing different animal and religious elements into a cohesive whole. Ameroth was described as a lioness with the body of a snake, and great wings. Capturing those chimeric elements without making a disjointed, confusing whole has always been a personal struggle, but after some trial and error, I think I somewhat succeeded. For this piece, I wanted to capture an old school religious vibe, drawn from Byzantine-style religious mosaics and the works of early Renaissance painter Pierro Della Francesca. I don't think I quite captured either, but cam up with something that I feel caught a tiny sliver of their essence of early Christian religious iconography.
