I used vasaline before jsut on my stash and beard. It works fine but is a bitch to get out when you are done.

I think I've inhaled more than that in a day! But I'm currently staring at 10 lbs of alginate and 50 pounds of hydrocal and 50lbs of Ultracal 30. All of it, great stuff!!

If you can, tell your friend to use Ultracal 30. All it is, is Gypsum cement and its a LOT stronger than plaster or Hydrocal.

It's not my friend doing this, it's me. Ultracal 30 is strong but way too heavy when cured. It's almost 4 times the weight of Dental Plaster when it's fully dried. I would only use Ultracal 30 if I were baking foam latex appliences.

Is it a solid bust or do you have it hollowed out?

I do my heads solid. If I put in a tube or something to hollow it out it could weaken the neck. That is the one advantage of H30 is you can't damage the thing once it sets.

I was told when dipping the strips, warm water sets them faster and cooler slower. Allows a little control if you're new and need more time to work.

Gives me an idea for creating a horse head with a movable jaw using spirit gum to attach the jaw to my own. No fursuiter can talk, usually.

I doubt spirit gum would be able to hold it for the purpose you want. I would suggest pros-aid (prosthetic adhesive). It's a lot stronger and can hold just about anything to the skin. Only downside is that its expensive

The hardest part will be in pronouncing certain letters "F, PH, B and V" will be nearly unpronounceable but I already worked that out from the 'horse's' language. I am thinking of adhering tethers to my own lips inside the mask so I can talk, I'll still drink out of a straw though. But my idea also has a cooling system inside so I won't be a sweaty lump when I take the suit off again.
