kalibri of his character, Terminus. Termy is a maledikt, which is a species of our own design. Maledikts can look like virtually any species, but they generally have at least one characteristic that distinguishes them as one of the species (i.e., a spaded tail, cloven hooves, wings, etc.) and at least one supernatural ability.
I spent a LOT of time on this. But! I am very satisfied with the end result. I learned a great deal and raged at SAI a lot because I didn't understand why it was doing the things it was doing, but I'm better for it in the end. One thing that I struggled with was bringing across the concept of Terminus' hair. It's supposed to be fiber-optic. Any artists out there have suggestions as to how to make something appear to be fiber-optic? I'd appreciate your input. :)
Anyway, enjoy!

I love how this came out! The colors blend really well together, and I adore the faint texturing. You might want to ease some color into the grey shadows though--green would really make it pop.
As for the fiberoptics, they wouldn't have tapered clumps like normal hair does, and since your lineart is kinda forcing them into that shape, it doesn't look right. I'd make them splay out at the end rather than taper, with thicker "hairs." You might accentuate it even more by putting the little dot of light at the end of each fiber on TOP of the lineart! :3

Hmm, good point about the fiber optics. I never thought of it not tapering like normal hair. And you're also right about the shadows- I am relentlessly horrible about using plain ol' grey to shade everything with. x) It's so ingrained into my head it never crosses my mind. But now I know, and hopefully I remember next time. xD
