New Years day, 2001, there really was a great black Monolith on the kit hill at Magnusson Park in Seattle. It had been installed by a guerilla arts group "Some People" and remained there for some time until it disappeared, only to reappear on Duck Island in Green Lake.

Well, as long as there's only one of them there's no chance of them ganging up and turning Earth into a star. That's something to be thankful for, i suppose.

Earth doesn't have enough hydrogen. However, a bunch of those suckers could do something really really bad, or something really really good. I found a bunch of my Gherman Titov mission to Jupiter T-shirts. Likely take them to a con and offer them free to anyone who can explain them.

I didn't know it was at Magnusson Park! I looked for it all over Green Lake but never found it - I hadn't thought to look on Duck Island, though. I thought it's supposedly illegal to walk on that island?

Yeah, it was in Magnusson for a couple weeks(?) starting on New Years, then disappeared for a little while then reappeared on Duck Island, where it should not have been. I guess prankers put it there. The Parks department was supposedly okay about it at Magnusson.
