Kurt Kiens, former HECU Marine and leader of the Green Devils resistance organization, lies in wait with his men to ambush a Combine patrol. Using the ruins of an old city in the outlands as a temporary staging ground, Kurt and his men would make many successful raids on Combine assets in the area, destroying outposts and sabotaging the machines used to drain Earth of its resources. Due to this as well as other successful excursions, the Green Devils would become a major thorn in the Combine's side, being better trained and with better morale than the average rebel, as well as hard to pin down.
