Blue Ridge is one of those cons we keep meaning to go to but something keeps coming up. Their first year they overbooked the hotel venue and had to cap attendance and turn people away. The second year Covid 19 was ongoing. The third year they booked a cabin resort hotel in Asheville that was both stupid expensive and in the middle of nowhere. Since that venue obviously fell through, they were unable to find a new location this year, so the held the con digitally like they did their second year. The theme was VR Spaces. My own experience with modern-day VR has been very limited; I've played around with some of my friends' rigs. I found it enjoyable if limited; the tech is only burgeoning but the high burden of cost and resources for relative lack of compatible product has thus far put me off to getting it myself. I do hope that the technology continues to innovate and become affordable, otherwise it risks going the way of Google's AR-driven devices. It's been able to hold on pretty well so far, mostly on the strength of VR Chat.
At least it's unlikely any of us will get sucked into VR like the poor squirrel mascot did!
Coon is my character.
