Witch Hunter István - Magical version
Regular version
Artist's Post
István, an Agami Heron from the nation of Gémfélország, who joined the Varázvadász (Witch Hunter) corps.
The best way to fight against enemy mages, is either to have magic yourself, or to use a sniper rifle to dispose of them before they are in range to use their magic. István, however, is the most effective anti-mage weapon on the battlefield, by combining both magic with his aiming skills in a deadly combo.

The emergence of magic as a formidable force during the War that shall not End brought about a revolutionary change in the dynamics of warfare. The discovery of the ancient civilization Eridiá and their enigmatic codices opened the door to a realm of power previously unknown. These codices, with pages made of an indestructible alloy untouched by time, held the secrets to communicating with the Mákhai, powerful beings from another dimension who bestowed magical abilities upon those willing to form contracts with them.
As nations delved into the study of Eridiá's legacy, they quickly began to realize the potential of harnessing magic in battle. The Mákhai granted magic-users the ability to shape reality itself, turning the tide of wars and battles. This newfound power led to a frantic race among nations to secure their own sources of magical strength. However, the very emergence of magic sparked an arms race, with the development of anti-magic measures becoming equally critical.
The alloy found within the Eridián ruins became a crucial component in the fight against magic. This alloy possess the unique ability to negate magic and penetrate magical shields, rendering even the most powerful spells ineffective. Its properties presented a lifeline for nations seeking to balance the scales against the overwhelming power of magic-users. However, the composition of the alloy remained a mystery, keeping its availability limited and precious, as it was impossible to produce it on a large scale.
In response to the scarcity of the anti-magic alloy, many nations established specialized units, anti-mage sniper corps. Some of these units include the Covanian "Chasseurs de Mages" (Mage Hunter) or the Gemfelian "Varázvadász" (Witch Hunter). These elite units are equipped with weaponry using the precious alloy as bullets. There are two types of bullets available: "full alloy" (FA) bullets, highly effective at piercing magical shields but considerably expensive to produce, and "partial alloy" (PA) bullets, which do not have the same penetration capabilities but still inflict significant damage to magical defenses. Because of wasting full alloy bullets is too expensive, most anti-magic units are often only equiped with PA bullets.
These anti-mage sniper corps played a pivotal role on the battlefield. Skilled marksmen with an uncanny ability to locate and neutralize enemy mages, they are tasked with protecting frontline troops from magical onslaughts. Their presence and precision acted as a deterrent against rampant magical devastation. However, the limitations of the anti-mage sniper corps are clear: their numbers are limited, and they cannot be everywhere at once, allowing mages to still retain the ability to operate on the battlefield, albeit with caution. To counter anti-mage snipers, ingenious tactics emerged. Smoke screens shrouded mages in protective cloaks, obscuring their positions. Artillery barrages targeted known sniper positions, attempting to disrupt their accuracy. Regular snipers are deployed to engage anti-mage snipers in a battle of wits. Additionally, magical decoys and illusions are conjured to mislead and exhaust the precious anti-magic ammunition.
