I never really like to talk about what happened that day but since I'm part of the team which move millions I just want to share this with you all. Better late than never.
If you didn't know, this bus was at downtown on Church Street when the towers fell. She was still in good condition, they dug her out of the rubble and towed her back to the depot and have it completely rebuild and put her back into service as a Memorial Bus and forever in that paint scheme. We only lost one bus that day at the site but this one survived. Many buses were sent down there that day to help evacuate many people as possible and bring them out to safety. Whoever worked that day, they did their part to save many people's lives, they are our city's heroes! Sadly some have passed on, some are retired, we still have operators are still here working with us and still going strong. This is a thankless job!
This bus is retired from passenger service and put aside by the Transit Museum. Whenever there is a bus festival or special events, she will be out there on the road. She even help evacuate the people from New Orleans back in 2005 Hurricane Katrina.
