What we have here is a Frozen waterfall. *Gasp!*
I took this back in March, I think. During a trip I took to the mountains to go hiking. Most of the surrounding snow melted, but the ice of the Waterfall endured until I took this. I took this picture late in the day as the sun was setting to the west (Facing roughly south-east when taking the picture), creating the direct sun/shadow effect seen here.

It was taken in Ten Sleep Canyon, in the Big Horn Mountains, Wyoming. The waterfall is actually fairly small (in terms of volume of water). I think the fact that it was located on the southern wall of the canyon (hence protected from direct sunlight much of the time) combined with the low flow rate allowed it to build up over the winter into the beautiful feature that it is here. Too bad I couldn't have gotten a shot earlier in the winter. I think it would have been even more striking.
Ooh yes, that would be interesting to see.
I guess the waterfall looked pretty big to me, judging from the size of the trees in comparison. It's certainly bigger than anything similar that I've seen. Mind you, all the the frozen waterfalls I saw were also exposed to sunlight. I'm now wishing I got some photos.
