This my second of many short stories revolved around two of my characters Steve Hayes and Travis Crawford.
I will Warn that my grammar isn't to great and I'm sorry about that.
Hope it doesn't bother people too much.
Also the story setting takes place in the 1919s, and I Tried hard as I could to get somethings a bit accurate.
So please excuse me for any inaccurate portrayals.

1919, Greenmoore, NY
It was the middle of the night, as Steve and Travis arrived at Steve home. With arms crossed Travis had said." So this is your home, I I Didn't expect it looked like this."
Annoyed Steve remarked," Well this ain't the ritz if that's what your hoping for." Unlocking his door he heard Travis replied. "That's definitely not what I meant, what I mean was that I really like the house. It looks much nicer then I imagined a bum like you would live in."
"Geez what a compliment I really appreciate it."
When entering his house Steve said aloud." Well Pup welcome to my humble abode." Walking inside Travis could sense a strong unique kind of energy flowing through the house. He could see a bunch of stringed beads hanged all around the ceiling. As well as runes and glyphs painted on the walls.
"what are these for?" Travis asked.
"Well just wards I placed around the house, you know to keep out unwanted visitors." Was his answer. "Now stay here and don't touch my dinguses, when I grab what your looking for then we'll head out." He told him walking elsewhere.
Of course as curious as Travis is, he didn't listen. So quietly exploring the house, he ended up in the living room.
Where he could see it was a bit of a mess. With books and many items scattered all over the place. Even seeing more of Steve trinkets either hung on the ceiling, nailed to the walls, and resting on the shelves or tables. It also looked like an unfinished trinket sitting next to the tools on the coffee on the table. Seeing all these things and actually feeling them for the first time. Sensing the unique energy that he haven't felt in any practices of magick. He couldn't help but be even more curious about these things. Getting a closer look at the unfinished trinket, he looked over to the open book next to it.
Seeing the hand drawn illustration of what the trinket supposed to be. Fixing his glasses Travis read the hand written description of the trinket. While reading it, he could feel a sudden chill running through his spines. With feeling of eyes upon him.
Even more suddenly he heard Steve boomed," I swear to the gods! You are incapable of doing the most simplest things!"
quickly turning his head he see Steve stomping over to him. Travis could practically feel his anger emanating from the wolf.
"Sorry-,"
"You're not sorry you shit! You know what you were doing!" He grabbed Travis and pulled him up till their faces were eye level of each other.
"Who do you think you are, to just go around touching other people crap!" He growled.
"Your always so cocky about your witch trinkets, I wanted to understand some more of it."
"Correction I'm proud of my heritage, I'm proud of my family long standing history of this ancient art. So if I sound a bit conceited, I think I have a every right too!"
"I just want to understand the history behind it, not just the flashy gimmicks that you flaunt around everyone, But actual witchcraft that I know that your capable of."
"And what! That gives you the right to riffle through my things! Oh boy your so lucky pal that I can't bruise the pretty head of your!" He snarled.
" Being in your house, I now understand how wrong I was."
Hearing that Steve jumped into a conclusion in his head. "What the fuck that suppose to mean!?"
"I was wrong to call you a backwoods witch, I was wrong to not take your practice seriously." From this , actually to hear the stubborn vampire to admit his wrong caused him to pause a bit.
"judging the look of your house I can see the passion, the dedication, and great craft you put into your magick. After all those years of people calling me half a witch, I thought I was better then them. But really I'm no different." Travis looked away a bit ashamed. Hearing that Steve had put Travis down and let go of him.
He understood the pain of growing up and be treated less then a witch. Especially knowing that Travis specialty was plant magick, he figured Travis also had a hard time being taken seriously. After a Sigh he tried to break the tension by joking." You got all of this just for being in here for five minutes."
For Travis he could easily tell what Steve was doing, and chuckled." well I am a pretty sensitive fellow after all." That earned a laugh from Steve,"Oh I'm pretty aware of that."
Then with his hands resting in his pockets, he remembered the thing that they originally had come here for. Pulling out the small bag he held it out to Travis saying," Now that I think about it, you never really needed this did you?"
"I Just said it to get a good look in your house."
Chuckling Steve inquired," Now how did you figure I had this on hand?"
In reaction Travis shot him a smile," please any self respecting witch would have that on hand."
Rolling his eyes Steve replied," ok there wise head. Since your interested in my techniques would you like a crash course on the oldest form of witchcraft."
"I would really like that," In response Steve went to pick up the book Travis was reading earlier and said. " Alright you little bastard, follow me." With that Steve lead Travis to his alter room, Where all his material was in.
Where the two spent a lot of time, having conversation about witches trinket, even some more talk on Steve ancestors and how they improve the craft.
Then going on to explain that in Steve family tree that they believe that almost every form of magick could be trace back to witch trinkets. Which was something that Travis finds a debatable. None the less he wasn't gonna dispute that out of disrespect. But Travis inquisitive brain he couldn't help to question Steve on a lot of things." So essentially these tools were used as a shortcut to many forms of magick."
"Essentially yes," Steve replied back as he using his pruning shears to clip off some pieces of a small plant.
"Well if that's the case, wouldn't it be hard to make extremely complicated spells when the materials needed are equally complicated."
"I don't think it'll be any different from any other ritualistic magick spell."
"I don't know Steve, I can't really see how much it would be a shortcut, when some of these items needed to make these trinkets are hard to come by. Like these," Travis pointed at a page in the book. Where the ingredients were like human flesh and other such thing.
"Well arguable this was written in the early 1400 when such material was easier to get. But other then that there are some trinkets I wouldn't make unless I need to. Though when it comes to making powerful trinkets it is quite useful to have on hand."
Scratching his chin Travis looked through some more pages of Steve family book of shadows. While Steve watched Travis, interested in his interest of his practice. "You know I think with some modifying, I believe you can recreate some of these old trinkets."
Amused by what Travis had said, Steve replied." Okay Pup enlighten me."
Rolling his eyes Travis answered," well obviously the problem with the ingredients, due to the fact that some of them might put you in the cooler, or they're pretty scarce. Also judging the blue prints on the powerful ones, they run on dark magick. Which explains the materials, but what you need is a substitute material that acts as a better catalyst and or works with the benefit of them being more obtainable material wise."
"Well you definitely live up to the title of witch prodigy," but upon saying that he had saw a change of expression of Travis face for a split second. Seeing that he wasn't to comfortable with that title.
So to distract him Steve brought his attention back on topic.
"Though the problem is that using a different materials could one, change the trinket ability. Two, weaken the impact of said trinket. Not really sure to what degree, but three. Trying to find a new working catalyst would probably take a shit ton of testing."
"Come on Steve you know as well as I do. That progress doesn't happen when you don't do anything, besides we could learn something new from whatever mistakes that comes out of it."
"We?" was the word Steve uttered with a chuckle.
"Well not saying that your not well versed in your craft. But I do admit with my skills it could help develop it even further."
"Is that so you little shit, you think just because you learned about my craft for a couple of hours makes you some sort of big cheese." Steve bantered, while this caused Travis to giggle. Which he replied back playfully," that's because I have a hard time believing a blockhead like you can even build such intricate trinkets. Let alone trusting you with the most basics of spells."
"Oh wow now aren't you a hoot." He sarcastically said
"Your laughing right now dummy," Travis pointed out.
This earned another laugh from Steve. For once he actually was genuinely having a good time for the little bastard. As Steve finally understood what kind of person Travis is.
After many weeks of having to deal with Travis nonsense, it all made sense to him. He also thought his attitude wasn't the best either.
So looking back at him he then spoke," hey Pup."
Getting Travis attention he heard." You know I been thinking about your interest," which caused Travis to shoot him a doubtful look.
"I know what your thinking but, what I'm trying to say is that after all this time you never really showed me your skills when it comes to what your good at."
Travis wasn't sure how to answer to that, but before he could say anything Steve tells him. " Look what I'm trying to say is that, maybe if you impress me I might consider taking you places you like to go."
In that instance he had ignited a big reaction from Travis." Wa-Wait are you serious!"
"You heard me right, I ain't pulling your leg or anything like that." Steve chuckled.
"Wow, now that's the cat's meow!" Travis exclaimed.
"But that's only if you impress me first Pup," Steve reminded as he tapped claw on Travis head.
Seeing him a bit conflicted Travis eventually decided on what he wanted to do," yes."
"Just yes? Usually your much more vocal than that."
Smiling Travis lightly shoved him," what do you want from me, I said I'll do it,"
"Well then lets stop chatting and head out to the backyard."
with delight Travis carefully sat down the book and stood up, where Steve as well stood up and lead him to his backyard. Definitely sure what he was expecting, but he knew that he better start getting use to being around Travis interests. Due to the fact that despite him dislikes a lot of Travis interests. He was a man of his word, and he knew that whatever Travis is gonna do. He would definitely was gonna be impressed.
I will Warn that my grammar isn't to great and I'm sorry about that.
