"Can I stay for the night?" Maja suddenly asked.
"What?"
"I..." Maja kneaded her hands. She had cried prior to visiting her brother. Their parents hadn't noticed her going into the other room, but if she returned and they saw her, they would ask what was up with her. She certainly wasn't ready to tell them what troubled her - and she didn't want to lie in her bed alone either: "I won't trouble you, I don't move in my sleep and don't snore." Heat rushed into her cheeks, what stupid stuff she was saying?
Alex was quiet for a while. When they had been much younger, their parents had often placed them in one bed and he had always felt cared for and protected with his older sister by his side. But now they were older, almost young adults, this was...inappropriate. What would his friends say if he told them that he still slept in one bed with his sister? Cold gripped him when he realized suddenly that they would make some dirty comments on this. But this wasn't about some...something wrong, it was just...he felt proud that his older sister needed his comfort to bring her through a difficult time and hey, they would just sleep! He finally pulled the blanket aside slightly: "Of course you can."
