Matilda's efficacy as a bounty hunter is due in part to the experimental nature of her creation. Originally designed to be the template for planetary defense units, the idea was scrapped once concerns arose over the isotopic-calculation matrix used in the central processor; though capable of reacting to a variety of threats and combat situations at unseen speeds, it allowed for deviancy in strategic thinking and individual decision that was deemed "too troublesome". Matilda escaped her manufacturing facility of origin soon after, winding up in the vast trashlands of Sunstar City's outskirts. Here she set up shop with a few other deviant bots, eking out existence the best they can.
