"Hmmm, can you draw this new character I've been working on. It's a giraffe with a bo staff that has the ability to control lightning."
The first image I did for Midnight_Fox (a rebel scum and his droid, starring at a mysteriously phalluc "extra" part) was a little too naughty. Basically, there was a miscommunication on my part, so I tried again with this request in mind. First try was too stagnant, second try looked more like a Minotaur then a Giraffe, and third try... the charm, as per usual.
I was having issues getting the lightning not to come out all cheezy, so giving up in disgust. I decided to have the character's markings hint at the electrical might within. I also expiermented more with OC as a coloring device and I think I'm slowly "getting there". The silk pants didn't come out as I hoped and I nearly drove myself crazy with the random fur pattern.
I wanted it to be random and chaotic to match the power. It ended up being something that'd be nearly impossible to replicate for various posings. Ah well, next time I'll know better.
Hope Midnight_Fox likes it. If not, well, I like it just fine ^_^

Wow...... I must say i love it, its wonderful!!! I must say for a complex request you definally hit the mark. ^^ And add your unique touch to my vision, I love his makings that you did for him. And his armored knuckles ^^

Truely glad you liked... remind me to do something more creative for the background next time though. *blush* As for my part of the trade, NachT pointed out I didn't really have any character reference sheets so I'm going to work on a few of those and put them up before I start making my requests.
Honestly, I think I nailed this one better then the Rain trade, but I spent an equal time and number of sketches on each. Anatomy is more stylized here but it "works" with the flow of the character so I really like it, especially the black and white. I think my major screw up was in the stagnant, red, background. I should have been more dynamic with it. Ah well, next time for sure. As for the stripes, oooh yeah. If you look closely, you'll see their slightly off white. Each line of stripe and each section of brown was colored seperately as it was all done on OC so there was no way to just generate a "block" of color. ^,^;; Thanks for the comment ^,^
