Blackmask is still being developed in Unity Engine
In spite of Unity's discouraging news, Blackmask will continue development until further notice.
It's not ideal to me personally, but my programmer insists on holding out, so we're sticking to it as a two man team.
I'm still gonna look into learning alternate game engines like Game Maker and Godot in my personal time as it's still nice to have the skills. For now, we'll see if we can bank on a retraction from Unity enough to keep out of legal hot water from their rent seekers.

If I can learn a bit of Godot enough to have a parallel build that's up to what our current features are for our demo, I might be able to convince my programmer to make the jump. Thing is, his day job requires his Unity experience so he's not in as good of a position to jump ship as I am.
My pixel art assets are the same, so it's just a matter of learning the UI enough to import and place my assets. Should Unity be such a garbage fire that my programmer can put his pride aside and try Godot, there's a plan B ready to go!
