Two hours later, and he had a son.
Aski, she had suggested. Quite literally, Ashfur. Her eyes were wet as she licked him clean. He chuffed and squeaked as he pushed himself blindly into his mother's fur, a long patch of off-grey discolouration showing over his head and down his back. The only visible indication of his parentage.
It was perfect.
He'd been agonizing over names for months, something with deep meaning, symbolism... all the while she'd giggle to herself and shake her head. A name was given in the moment, not to be overthought. No need for self-congratulating reference to his singularly unique lineage, or any elaborate metaphors for "unity between peoples". He saw that now. It was important, sure, but utter foolishness to think that a fancier name would somehow ascribe more value and meaning to his son.
He was theirs, and that was all he ever needed to be.

i like to hope i'll be back to it, one way or another. as much as i like drawing these two i feel like the reason i was stuck for so long was i didnt know how to resolve the scene well enough, so i just started putting it off, and ended up putting it off for a very long time lol
that's past now though, i can go back to drawing things on random impulse instead of by obligation
more fluffdragon cuddles and butts and other things people seem to like
