A rough anatomy overview of the head of the species I'm making called the "Mycha."
They are bird-like species, but not true birds to earthan taxonomy.
They have skin that covers their pseudo-beak, the larger beak on their skull which acts more like facial bone than a beak. They have teeth on the inside of their pseudobeak. The real beak is a thin lining of beak on the jaw.
Their beak line is very well covered by feathers and extremely hard to notice.
The nostril area blends in with the pileated plumage of the bridge of the nose and a small section of the jaw. They have a technical "cheek" even if it is just a section of muscle and skin that covers the rear of the jaw. They do chew.
Their ears are covered by their black adult plumes. Their hearing is very good, sitting just a few notches below dogs.
The facial masque of the Mycha can vary drastically. The noted is the far more common "Crying Masque." Masques can range in appearance and even be asymmetrical, however it can only be in black and white plumes.
Note: I did mess up with the eye socket, it's much too small for that eye size.
