In the future, lizards are still cultists, they worship the notion of the Great Garden and the dragongod Skrim, and make small gardens to attract followers. They cater to the downtrodden, the exiled, and remove their brains to replace them with simple, happy, obedient lizard brains. The old brains are stored somewhere, usually trash cans, to be conditioned into Skrim worshippers at a later date.
