something I figured out long ago... the old bi-lanes had to have their wings tuned. This refers to the cables running between the wings. Those were structural supports because the wings of the era were not strong enough on their own. It was called tuning, because you tightened them until, when plucked, they hit a specific musical note.

I've turned enough wrenches in the shade of trees to know I'll never be a blabberflasking know it all. I went from pulling the engine from my first car (to have it rebuilt) to taking my current vehicle to a dealer to have the automatic transmission serviced because I know better than to think I can do that kind of work. The knowledge (and equipment) needed to do just the troubleshooting in modern cars is more than I care to possess.
I kinda miss the days when you could eventually become a Dallas at mechanic work. Now you gotta keep going to classes just to learn how to use the newest diagnostic computer. Took all the fun out of it.
