"The storm arrived on Friday Eve
This year the trees fell before the leaves
Nothing can stop the storms and seas
This year the trees fell before the leaves"
The storm has come and gone, having done its damage. The trees took the brunt of it; those that didn't fall down were stripped of their leaves and limbs. It won't be a colourful Autumn around Crossfolf Corner this year.
A Crossfolf Camera Presentation.

A couple of good young fellows were about to start cutting up this tree while I was there, and they didn't quite know how to proceed. one of them was about to saw it off at the base with the roots still attached to the ground. No no no...
I told them:
"Cut the top limbs off and work your way to the base. That base will bounce up and clobber one of you if you don't lighten the crown first"
One of them looked at me and nodded his head as if to say:
"Yeeaaahhh...I see what you mean"

Dad and I used to go into the woods to get our winter wood supply, and he sometimes volunteer worked for the town, removing dead trees and limbs.
He liked to say that a tree is unique in that it's harmless and beneficial when it's alive, and only becomes dangerous after it dies.
