I'm not sure how to explain how Miles unlocks his Espeon form. It's an acceptance of other people's wants and desires, even if they run contrary to his own? Something like that. Basically he allows another to reach Max Friendship.
Much like his Glaceon form, his Espeon is ranged, but mostly works on debuffs and buffs rather than direct damage.
