If you've ever played the Breath of Fire games, you might recognize this fella'. He's Garr, the big, beefy...whatever-he-is from Breath of Fire III.
This was primarily done to practice ink shading techniques. I like some parts of it, don't like others. The bottom line: I need more practice. :P
By the by, this was also sort of done as a gift for
cxulubcah . It's not much, but it's a start, eh? ^_^;

Well, I appreciate that. Still, you can't get much of a three-dimensional appearance without shading, and most of my B&W works are lacking that. My "Arremer Jerk" picture, with the depth-less red arremer against the grassy field stretching out into the distance, made the need for improvement somewhat obvious. :P
Looks good to me. ^_^
I hope you can gain even more skill as you practice, drawing more interesting images like this. ...Maybe do the lower half of him, just to see how that shading works out? Or his wings?
I know he wears a lot of cloth wraps and has those uniquely shaped legs; there should be some good shading practice in there.

I doubt I'd much bother giving him any clothing. I'm a smut artist. Not really part of my craft. And his wings? Oh, heavens. Wings are *not* fun. Just one long, horrible curve while I have to practically beg my hand to remain steady. >_<;
I'm gonna' keep honing my ink shading skill, for certain; It's not nearly developed enough. What subject I'm going to use to develop it on is a mystery. ^_^;

*laughs* Well, thank you so very much. *^_^*
I studied ink shading techniques other artists have used, discussed them with friends to get a second opinion on what would be the best technique for me, decided what *I* thought would look good, applied my meager knowledge of lighting and shadow from when I used to color things, "mapped out" the shading in pencil first, then a bunch of tiny inked lines and guesswork later, you've got this picture. XD

Hey, Garr is actually an 'angel,' he was created by the Goddess to fight off the dragons, which she saw as a threat. There were four angels created, who killed off almost the entire race of dragons. Then, two turned into statues, one became a hermit, and Garr went off in search for the last dragon that he sensed was out there.
