This is a rough sketch of the concept I have for what the royal highway looks like in D. Dan's world and home in the royal capital. The royal highway is an elevated stone highway with five lanes or more on either side and is split by a long park. There are also two thin parks on the outer edge of the royal highway. The parks provides extra greenery throughout the city as well as a pedestrian and bicycle areas. ^\/^.
Holding up the royal highways are archways and columns. In the end, the royal highways look like Roman aqueducts, only thicker, stronger and much higher than most. Outside the royal capital, and through much of the kingdom and beyond, the height off the ground is less yet still elevated. The royal highways are elevated so that monsters have more of a difficult time causing traffic outside the cities to travelers due to elevation, wards and other protection mechanisms. Also, the elevation allows for more open space to be used for various reason in the cites that, due to being built almost entirely within epic walls, tend to become crowded and densely populated in many areas of most cities. ^\/^.
