Right on the cusp of the creepsie season of Halloween. Wanted to prepare with a quick POC pic for a later two portraits involving this story. While Blackwood may have gone a different direction than the Algonquin source material, the suspense buildup in 'The Wendigo' is palpable. I'm almost certain later works like 'Annihilation' or 'Blaire Witch Project' ran in the vein cut by this 1910 horror novella, that innate fear modern humans harbor toward desolation, the seductive hostaging of a party member by the wild unknown, all shrouded in cold shadow below the trees.
