The Gasco Army is always trying their hardest to keep their country safe, whether it's one landmass or several smaller islands. Leading these efforts is General Merlot. An old war dog with decades of experience, his knowledge and wisdom will surely lead Gasco to victory no matter the situation...and if all else fails, this powerful titan can simply stomp his puny enemies into surrendering! Merlot really should be careful around his smaller allies though. Sure it can be hard to spot them when they're hanging on from his enormous body or on the path of his steps but that's no excuse to not pay attention! Hopefully those micros will get out of the way of the gigantic general.
This is easily the most obscure character I have commissioned art of, bar none lol Merlot here is from the excellent RPG series Fuga: Melodies of Steel, available on pretty much everything. There are two games out, third on the way, and the series is full of extremely cool anthro characters and just as cool apocalyptic warmachines. I would highly recommend checking out the series. Don't you wanna see if General Merlot is actually a bigass giant? Only one way to find out, by Fuga now!
(There's also a demo of the first game that covers the first three chapters and carries your progress, it's a pretty good deal)
The artist this time was Jumbo6039! Another artist who I think I've commissioned their first macro piece from, they did an absolutely brilliant job here, even improving on my initial pitch in many ways. I absolutely adore their use of light and colors!

I actually need to start Little Tail Bronx (Fuga + Tail Concerto + Solatorobo) bc it's been fascinating me for ages but I am always swamped with other games. Thanks for letting me know about this GdILF, Sokeri.
Actually was close to buying Solatorobo at an actual irl shop in a mall once but I did not and I regret it every single day. Also I was mostly a PSP user.

Oh I would highly recommend the Little Tail Bronx series! Super charming games with extremely cool worldbuilding. The Fuga games have been a lot of folks' first introduction to the series (including mine) so no worries starting with those. The Fuga games actually have a couple other good macro candidates, especially if you don't mind your old men giants being various levels of evil.
Aaaaaa that stings! I got a physical copy of Solatorobo for "just" 100€ and I only took the deal because I knew it was probably the best offer I would ever get.

Yeah, Tail Concerto and Solatorobo are both probably better emulated. Please do consider actually buying Fuga if at all possible, it's a passion project the devs had to self-publish to get it off the ground so all sales are good sales in this case.
And there's definitely something to potentially enjoy in Fuga then~
