I have somewhere an old Dell "Gold Key Comic" about The War of the Worlds. It was my first version of the story and immediately got me wanting to read the book both because it looked awesome but also there seemed to be something missing in the comic version. Something sinister about the Martians and how they were depicted that seemed incomplete, It wasn't after I read the book that I realized just WHY EXACTLY the Martians came here and it WASN'T just for our planet!
So Kudos to Steven Spielberg for actually putting "the red weed" in his version of the '53' classic.
