I've always been fascinated with female figures in traditional male roles. Athena, Hippolyta, Joan of Arc, Molly Pitcher, Eowyn, Samus Aran... all of them step beyond their societally imposed constraints and move into a sort of neutral area, neither male nor female.
I suppose I have something of a fetish for egalitarianism.
