Hello, my name's Markarian, and I'm a Mac. So after years of resisting and nay-saying, i finally decided to switch. I'm happily making myself at home, re-learning the Mac Operating System and all its little idiosyncrasies, and just generally having a good time.

As my usual DAW of choice, FL Studio, is unavailable on Mac, I decided to migrate to Logic Pro. I have to say at this point that I don't regret it.

So following my enduring obsession with everything James Horner, I thought it might be appropriate to record possibly his most famous and widely-recognized piece of music. While I don't feel that Titanic was one of his all-time best scores, it's still wonderful and always has a special place in my heart. This piece is based off of "The Portrait," a track found on the "Back to Titanic" supplemental soundtrack album and was the theme for Jack's nude portrait of Rose. This is my first time recording with a metronome, so I'm sounding a little stilted in places, but I think I'm getting better.

Recorded using a Roland RD-700 controlling a sampled Steinway D concert grand piano in Logic studio. Oboe added for extra flavor!
