Heavy weapon for my setting. Art by IgorKutuzov06.
Designed as a collaborative project between Vanguard Defense and the Lyceenian military's research and development branch, the M109 is a large, mutli-barreled fully automatic heavy weapon intended for semi-static defensive positions, vehicles, and sometimes squad-level use. Taking the guided optics technology to the extreme, the weapon uses multiple sets of lenses to independently track and engage up to four targets at once with a single pull of the trigger. Capable of dropping targets over a thousand meters away with almost zero operator input, the M109 is a heavy, but popular weapon, and has reached a strange, if iconic status among media it's featured in.
As usual, the M109 comes with drawbacks; even unloaded without it's power cell, the weapon weighs in at almost 19 kilograms; restricting it's use to heavier infantry units equipped with powered armor or cybernetics. While a shortened version with paddle triggers exists for vehicle use, the M109 is still cumbersome and awkward to maneuver indoors. These flaws haven't stopped the gun from becoming one of the most commonly-deployed heavy weapons in the Technocracy's arsenal, however.
