Bio: Of all the species in the Local Group Galaxies, very few are as old and successful as the Venusivorare. Nearly a billion years old, these plantlike creatures are classified among a group of similarly old aliens known as "The Ancients," which includes the Grox, the Time Lords, the Weeping Angels, and the Qu. True to their name, the Venusivorare's homeworld is our planet's very twin sister, Venus and had first evolved there in the tail end of the planet's habitable lifespan.
Before Venus became barren, the planet was ruled by plants not unlike our own, but there were no multicellular animals on Venus. Their role was taken by another type of plant that is able to uproot itself and acheive a motile existence. These plants have an active lifestyle, yet are still capable of photosynthesis and still produce oxygen, though not near to the extent of their sessile cousins. They also gain more food from eating each other, which is why Venus had predators despite not having animals. Eventually, one of these plant species would evolve sapience, that being the Venusivorare.
This form of Venusivorare is a long lived species, capable of living for as long as a millenia and a half. They're also ambush predators that burrow nearly their whole bodies underground and remain motionless until prey comes close. When prey is in striking distance, one of the creature's three heads will shoot out a whiplike vine tipped with a spike that injects a narcotic substance into the prey. Survivors of these hunts describe it as if they were suddenly no longer in control of themselves but also very happy and chill while also getting the urge to approach the plant. The now stupified prey will then approach the plant and stimulate it to swallow by placing their hand inside one of the openings and pressing on a wall, leading to themselves being eaten quickly. Once inside, they prey rests in their translucent bellies where they will be absorbed of nutirents within a day or so, going out without pain.
Like their biology, Venusivorare technology is plant-based. They were able to construct towering skyscrapers with genetically enhanced trees, plant fashionable homes made of bushes, and on the war side, created war vehicles out of reinforced vines and plant tendrils, and firearms made of genetically modified pea plants. All of these tools and structures grow from fruits and seeds, a style which echoes how Venusivorare create more of themselves.
When a male Venusivorare disperses its pollen towards a female, fruits located on the female's "arms" will begin to grow, slowly morphing into a sapling. The sapling is essentially a shrunken clone of its parents (Only about a foot long when it detaches from its mother) and behaves more or less the same as their adult counterparts. The only difference is that they prey on small creatures in this stage, moving onto larger and larger creatures as they grow until they reach their adult size of 9-12ft in height.
When their homeworld became uninhabitable, the Venusivorare wanted to colonize a world in their original solar system. The only plausible candidate was Venus' twin sister, Earth. However, Earth underwent a Snowball phase at the time which meant the planet was too cold for the Venusivorare to thrive. Dejected, the alien plants decided to migrate off the system by creating spaceships made of wood and cholorphyll. For 750 Million years, no Venusivorare had ever set root on Sol, but with recent alien and predator activitiy on Earth (predators as in vore predators, not the ugly bounty hunters from AvP), that may change in the near future...
* Venusivorare are based off of Triffids.
* It is obvious that a spacefaring empire as old as the Venusivorare has underwent multiple major evolutions and diversified in many different species. What you see here is just one of 8 major species of the modern clade. It is the oldest one and is known as the Burrowing Venusivorare (Xenocarnifolius cuniculum). I will post the other clades later.
* I may make one of these forms my avatar for this site as well as an alt avatar for RPs.
* Female Venusivorare, regadless of species, have differing colors to their male counterparts, which are all green for them. Pictured on the bottom half is one with purple jaws and dark cyan leaves. That is just one of many different color combinations of the females. It is generally believed that females have evolved this adaptation to try and distinguish themselves from each other to better have the chances of passing their genes to the next generation during pollination seasons, of which occurs once every 100-150 years depending on the species.
