Haojie prides himself both on his fighting skills and especially his endurance. He'd challenged Mercer to a fight, thinking he could beat the tiger in a battle of attrition. What he didn't account for, however, was said tiger's ability to hit hard enough to penetrate even the panda's ostensibly impenetrable defenses.
Knowing Haojie's reputation as an insatiable glutton for punishment, though, I doubt this is the last we'll be seeing of the two together. After all: if you can't beat 'em, get whatever you can out of being their punching bag.
