A new tribesman appears!

So this has taken me three days already to upload but I'm finally getting to it, but this is something I decided to throw together for SuperYoshr • @SuperYoshr for funsies. Basically, in a Discord server both of us are in, the topic of tribal outfits came up again and kinda sparked renewed interest in the topic. I started doing one for someone else but then jumped on this one and worked on it for four hours. It's a little baffling to say because, as you can see, this is once again reusing the same art from my reference from December 2020. So on one handpaw, I'm not really happy the fact that I'm once again reusing art especially for how well this came out. On the other, wow, this came out really well, and none of this was drawn, I did all of this by mouse! Honestly, what probably got me interested to do this as long as I did was not only my growing friendship for Yoshr and wanting to do this for him, but also just how satisfyingly good his Yoshi was looking just with a couple edits.

Yoshr, for those that do not know him well, is a living Yoshi plush, who wears a red hoodie with a giant R on it, and white shoes, and is primarily a photographer. In this alternate reality, he becomes Gentle Companion, who trades that photography skill for being another one of the tribe's scribes, and is skilled in art. He lives in the same hut as Sweet-As-Fruit and helps him run his hut's library. For recordkeeping, Gentle Companion uses various sizes of paper to sketch and draw a scene that might be important for the tribe's history. It does impress many of the tribesmen and women when they can go out together, maybe for foraging or hunting, and come back and see him hard at work through the evening sketching out the day's events, which makes him well-known for having a spectacular memory.

Gentle Companion, much like Yoshr himself, is calm, relaxed, and not much of a large group kind of guy, but he loves his friends with all his heart and would do anything to help pick them up when they're down. Much like how Sweet-As-Fruit retains his malleable doughy body in this universe, so does Gentle Companion; it often makes sense to the tribe that both of these hutmates exhibit perhaps the strangest properties of anyone in the tribe; one's made of cookie dough (although likely in the time the tribe exists, many of the tribe doesn't know what that is), and one's a plush material. Still, many often express their fondness that both of these members of the colony are there for comfort and advice when they need it; they both are very nice to hug, after all!

Similar to Yoshr, Gentle Companion retains the original's two-tone dark gray/light gray color scheme, darkish purple eyes, orange scales, and an actual button where the bellybutton should be. Outside of that, all of Yoshr's colors have been recycled for use across his body and what he wears. For example, the red hoodie becomes a red loincloth complete with a more painted-on R, and also includes a bandana on his head. The white of his shoes have been used for the jagged marks across his arms and legs, and the yellow of their soles along with a dark red is used for beaded bracelets and a necklace (there is one on his left wrist, but it is out of sight). The only difference is on his left ankle, which has a very colorful set of beads. This corresponds to the colors used on Sweet-As-Fruit's body paint, and he also wears the same bracelet with the ratatouille colors that Gentle wears. This is a symbol of their friendship in this world, and both wear them as friendship bracelets. Finally, Gentle Companion also has purple along his light gray fabric. There's a heart on his cheek, a swirl on his chest, and streaks around the button, and by Yoshr's request, these were actually created using the Yoshi's Story sun. Even the R on his loincloth uses that font!

It was amazing how much fun this was to put together, and again, I'm genuinely surprised at how long this took me and how involved I was getting. Perhaps next time we see Sweet-As-Fruit, Gentle Companion, or another member of the tribe, it'll be a new original drawing rather than reusing old art; it's a practice I need to control myself in doing.

Not too long ago, EpicFrick had joined the tribe with a Redoshi design of his own, and between him, Yoshr and I, and sharing with each other's ideas between all three characters, we came to the conclusion that Wishing Star resides in the same hut as both Sweet-As-Fruit and Gentle Companion, each of them working together to maintain the tribe's library. One common example of this is thanks to Gentle Companion's artistic skills combined with Wishing Star's ability to project constellations using his staff, they're able to make remarkably accurate star charts.

Because of them all living together, this means one more friendship bracelet got added to Gentle Companion! He now has two: the one with Sweet-As-Fruit's colorful body paint, along with Wishing Star's general colors of red, orange, and dark blue.
