Hmm, either 'Ima' is insinuating things again to make Sunshine doubt herself, or Rolex was really looking for Ima but in a unofficial way. Either way it's strange 'Ima' mentioned that when Sunshine didn't said anything about it at all, and obviously didn't knew anything about Rolex doing that.

It is a very curious statement by Ima!

Manipulation. Planting the seed of doubt about Rolex who already has a questionable past.

A missing wife that Sunny doubts that he really obsessed over as a missing member of his family.
We haven't seen any major emotion out of him at all, which isn't that strange. Some people keep that stuff to themselves.
I think as a reader, we don't know Rolex like Sunny does.
Either way, the subtle seed of doubt is planted here in both the reader and Sunny. Very well done.

Some thoughts:
*A spouse being involved in a case like this can often be a conflict of interest, the department would likely pull him off the case had he insisted on being involved. As such, he may be working extra-judically to find the truth.
*He may actually be involved, though I doubt that right now.
*This entire thing seems to be "for the town" but... more than that there seems to be a deeper motive thats more directly trying to involve Rolex. Perhaps because of his father's past? This might be a personal vedetta of some kind.
