~~ Oren and the One-Eyed Wolf ~~
This 13-page side comic is set nebulously between the first and second volume of Oren’s Forge. In a dual narrative between Oren and Gristle, the One-Eyed Wolf, the story delves into the past and provides insight into the wolf pack, as well as Oren’s motivations for starting the Hollow. You can read it on Patreon, or grab the PDF on my ko-fi shop!

Once again, you come up with the very best expostulations. :) And I've somehow managed to get this far without cottoning on that there'd be a language barrier between predator and prey? Silly me, I guess. But it makes sense: how else are you supposed to depersonalise your lunch? To manage a trick like that you'd have to be... only human.
More likely, just very dry wood and lots of tinder. Fire can take off FAST if you set it up in certain ways. Or, Egg did what I've done sometimes when having trouble lighting the wood stove... all your previous attempts have created little smoldering bits that aren't QUITE enough to start a fire on their own, so once a productive spark hits and the fire gets started, the little smoldering bits ALL flare up with the added energy. Your fire goes from a little single flame to a roaring fire in a few seconds, and it can indeed make a WHUMPH sound!
*edit* Oh, I see a nice pile of dry dead leaves under the firewood, so yeah, I think it was just a lot of nice dry tinder! X3
