Real Artists use Markers. So I got a set of 50 no-name textas from a bargain shop. It cost me $3.50. :D
I love these things! I got out all my old illustrated stories and discovered I used to draw the character in pencil then go over it with texta, so you could still see the outlines, but they weren't intrusive.
So I redrew some of the characters I thought looked cool (I could design fancy animals when I was ten, so there!). The characters on the right page are from a story that ony lasted a page and a half, but it had a character page at the start, with pictures.
The orange-headed one is called Natavra and he's some kind of coyote-like creature I suppose, because he "sings" at night. The blue one is called Laveron. All we know about her from the page and a half is that she hates Natavra's singing and tells him to shut up. He says "Thou knowest nothing of song" and tells her to bugger off. Clearly this story is Jungle Book-influenced.
The uncoloured things on this page are... a really cool long-nosed *something* I found three pictures of on the back of a chemistry hand-out c. year 11 or 12. Maybe it's an "aard-dog". It looked grumpy in the original pictures, but I made it cute.
A not-very-good rabbit, coz the Fuzzyball said the new Laveron looked like a cat but the old one looked more like a rabbit.
A comet-lion. Description in the story said it looked like a comet with four feet and a cat face, even though the illustrations of the time just made it look like a fat red feline with a comet tail. So I redrew it. Now it looks like a rah-comet.
The evil seal-looking thing is apparently named Kreltaphlon. In the original drawing he has a mauve head and grey body (resembles that of the yellow creature on the left-hand page). The character page says he's Laveron's slave and is a baddie now, so I drew him with Expression.
On the left page are two beasts from "Call of Destiny", my Star Wars-inspired story, which did indeed have an ending.
See here for some more about it: http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/3709582/
The humanoid one is a Lantharck (which is pronounced Lan-tha-rark just because. :p) and the other is a Galdarak. I like these seal-headed beasts, they're original.
Anyway, I think these textas are a bit dodgy because they go weird and make little fluffs on the paper if you go over the same bit twice. I don't see evidence of my original textas doing that, Maybe I'll try and find some better ones when these run out, but I'm not buying those $4-each Markers, nossir!
