Ohhhh jeeeez. I remember my first time buying condoms. I was stuck in the aisle for 10 minutes just looking at them wondering what ones to get, and I went red every time someone walked down past me. And thank god I got them for free. 16 and already buying protection. >.> way to go me.

lolz I work at a Walgreens pharmacy, and I can usually tell what age someone is simply by how they purchase them. Younger people are more awkward about it, while older are not. In the end, it's nothing to really be ashamed about. Better to have it safe than to go unprotected. ^_^
And also, another funny thing is when guys buy pads or tampons. xD Almost every man is the same with those, no matter the age.

Oh sweet memories. Luckily i've met nice health stuff traider, who told me some magic words. I've put embarassment out, and headed out of store, but she trew "Hey kid! Screw teh blood outta her!" into my back. My day was great, as i understood there's nothing to worry about it, it's just like natural things happen.
Pfffh..... if only every traider was so open'd and friendly to the young customers...

Well no. You can be ready for sex and confident enough with your partner, but you could be shy about that top in front of other people. E.g. you're gay, most people don't like that and will take the piss. I for one don't like that, so i'm particularly shy about the idea, i don't deal with people well anyway regardless of topic in person..

Don't worry, pup, I'm saying its odd and yet I can't even look at them when there is someone within three aisles of me, I get so nervous. And about the social taboo, you are right, no one really wants to be standing there with someone else near by while you look at "Ultra sensitive" or "Extra strength" condoms. Its uncomfortable 'cuz it feels like you're letting them know about what ya do in bed, I guess. Or am I merely rambling again?
I had to do the same thing... except i was with my (now ex)boyfriend at the time. He looks really really girly and gay and the black person that was ringing us up as we left said "Have fun you two." after giving us strange looks while ringing us up. We were blushing so hard it wasn't even funny, but as soon as he said that while we were exiting we bursting out laughing. x3
Agreed, but at the same time, its not usually older people that have this embarassment problem is younger, inexperienced people. Teens and young adults. For me, if you are too embarassed to get condoms, you are too young and not mature enough to handle everything that incorporates sex yet.
