Personality: Matey can come off as quite confident and enthusiastic, especially due to his family background. However he is afraid of being vulnerable and telling others how he feels. This can lead to him bottling up emotions that eventually spill out over time. Despite that, he can also be quite empathetic towards those he cares about, especially his captain. He has a distain for ninjas. You don't want to be on the wrong end of this cat's sword.

Backstory: His whole family are pirates going back many generations ! Many males in his family were captains in their own right. So one day he inherited an old ship from his great great old relative and set out to start his journey. He also inherited seven mystical pearls that they refer to as "Mermaid Tears" that are kept in special compasses. On his first voyage he was hoping to band a crew together and become captain as his relatives have done before, but he had doubts deep down. This was made worse when he ended crashing his ship into a private beach. That was the day he met Lance ! The skunk helped him repair the ship and gather supplies. Matey realized that he did not have what it takes to be captain, so he appointed Lance to be his captain while he acted as his first mate. After that the two would set off and begin their many swashbuckling adventures.
