More like this was something he needed to hear... Moreso the fact that she was worried for all of them getting hurt, Nigel included.
Nigel instead got to leave with the belief that Luna is having a laugh at his plight... Yeah Luna, give the guy who feels he has a reason to dislike you, an actual reason to hate you, then put him in with a party full of Warriors, half of whom barely know each other, while the other half are completely Disfunctional.
To Quote a Certain Ratty Maximal: "We're all gonna Die, aren't we?".

Suuuuure, "Laughing at her face", nevermind that Nigel is in an even worse situation and admitted at the amulet table (when he tried to steal one) that he had been plagued with horrible NIGHTMARES.
...This Page implies Nigel's nightmares are Not Nightmares, they are Visions, horrible Visions of things to come, with Luna either unable to see because her Future Sight cannot let her see the worst outcome, or because Nigel is cursed with Divine Level Foresight that he has no idea how to tame as he was never taught how to use it?

Okay... I don't see how this very loose interpretation of the plot tramps my comment. Sure Nigel is fucked, he's plagued by nightmares/visions, which Luna is aware of by the way, and he knows nothing about how to be a knight or prophet. So? He's still a little shit who holds no sympathy for others and is the kind to bask in other's misery. What's your point? That he has a right to be a dick because he's a "poor baby who got wronged by life"???
No. I say all that because he needed a TEACHER, rather than being left alone to wander off and let his visions and negativity carve his path for him.
Nigel is the result of being allowed to roam without proper guidance. You say "He's still a little shit who holds no sympathy for others and is the kind to bask in other's misery", well, he's that because he had no tutor or guiding hand.
All he had were his visions and negative thoughts. Of COURSE he is going to be a "little shit who holds no sympathy for others and is the kind to bask in other's misery", That is what you get when you leave someone to fester in misery without any way to drag him out to the sun!

Yeah, you half right. Nigel had a home until he run away because he wasn't a golden child anymore, Luna tried to guide him and give advise repeatedly, but only got to be called names. And if we go wild with "what ifs" Nigel always could get adopted by somebody in the town, but something tells me he wasn't up for it as well. He wasn't realy left to roam on his own, he actively rejected all attempts to help him for years. You can only reach out for so long.
So now he has to go trough hero jorney and figure his shit out on his own for bein spitefull petty little shithead.
So now he has to go trough hero jorney and figure his shit out on his own for bein spitefull petty little shithead.
My thoughts exactly!
Everybody on "Team Nigel" always point how "poor Nigel was wronged", but never think that so far, Nigel has pushed away each and every helping hand ever reached to him.
Yes, he was wronged by his parents, yes Luna could've done better, but that doesn't mean that she did absolutely nothing or did wronged him out of malice.
After parents rejecting him, everything else falls as a blame on his own shoulders, no matter the age.
The culture of "Diverting Accounability" is growing stronger by the day.
It's always "someone else's fault", but not the person they defend.

Ignored? Yes
Thrown out? NO
Don't get me wrong, neglect IS a form of abuse, and sure growing up in an abusive household would be just as bad for Nigel. I agree on that and on the fact that a lot of his negative traits are result of abuse.
It's simply a matter of agency I argue. It's ridiculous to blame The Tree for something that was neither her doing nor in her power to control.

Because she can't control people and their choises.
DUH
People tend to assume Luna has WAY more power over situasion then she actualy has. She did all she could here: she personaly picks the guardians to make sure they have right mindset and morals to serve people, she talked to Nigel's parents and she tried to talk to Nigel multiple times to no avail (because he refuses to listen). What else could she do? Hunt dow every singe bad person in the world and force them to be better??? Luna's not that omnipotent.

I mean they did die fighting the dark creatures (also was mentioned in ASK but don't quote me on this).
Anyway it sounds like a proper punnishment but consider this: if Nigel's parents were kicked out of the guardians because of how they treated him (read because of him) I bet they would be hella pissed and vendictive, not towards The Tree or even Nigel but Toby, who still was dependent on them. I mean they were horrible parents to Nigel but they also raised Toby to be kind strong and well adjusted person, so it can't be all black and white here. We never see the whole picture, just like the characters so there's that.

...You DO Realize that what Luna left him with already "Fuels his hatred and Self-Pity" all the more, right?
Keep in mind three of the four members utterly hates him, and the last one is someone he has no idea on who he is?
Its not too far of a stretch to imagine two of them letting him walk into an object (like a rake on the floor) while Tristan is distracted doing something else and the last one can just pretend nothing is happening.
The only One I can see being remotely willing to help Nigel is Tristan. Leo stated he would happily throw him off a cliff, Mirah and Chilli would not care about him

What I DO realise is - that there is no actual other way to help Nigel get better, nor there much time left to go with "kind, sweet, sugarcoating" kind of way, cuz so far, Nigel pushed every kind hand outstretched to help him get and feel better.
Luna mentioned that she already tried to help him before, but it's her last resort.
Mira and Chili doesn't actually "hate" him, they despise him for being petty, foul mouthed thief and troublemaker that hurt Luna as a kid and keeps badmouthing her.
Leo does hate him, that's for sure, but Leo is a special case, he hates anyone that he considers beneath him or acts against Luna.
But yeah, I intend to agree with you, given the arts that been shown with Nigel and Tristan always together, I bet he will be that close soul that will open up Nigel's shell.
Yet they NEED eah other to better themselves.
Each and every one of them are flawed, refusing to change and see themselves from a side.
That is why they're going on that journey that they have no idea about.

That does imply that Nigel does have future sight... And the Course they had before was the least ideal option...
Then again, Nigel's family had a disturbing way of treating their own family members for what they perceived as failures, and Tristan was part of a Group of Thieves who took advantage of him before he either went his seperate ways, or they got themselves caught... And we saw that Rich Git that Tristan nicked the purse from. Seemed the kind of person who would be a sleazy and corrupt noble...
So the Course that Luna set had gotten cloudy because she ignored the corruption within some of the mortals she protected.

Not gonna defend Luna's missteps, she's plenty flawed character.
Yet you even God can't fix EVERY flawed person in the worldz especially if they're not all seeing and all powerful.
And let's be honest, she protects LIFE, not morals and good life conditions.
She tries to help where she can, but for everything else she had Guardians and believers to guide the people.
Yeah, perhaps letting everyone have a Free Will and Choice is a grave mistake on her side too...
Should've gone with more totalitarian regime.
(I joking, if it's not obvious)

On one hand I feel all the cast could should have heard this, then again I suppose she feigned positivity so the parties minds were burdened by her concerned thoughts and feelings. Though when I think it, I like to think that the others hearing this might have a had a negative effect, as things might have been taking the wrong way.
Cause I for one am of the opinion if Nigel and Lep heard this, Leo would've had another example of favouritism to add to his dislike of Miralle list, as for Nigel, well he'd likely see it as another case of, "why'd you do this to me then?"

Yeah, imagine going on your first mission, after reception they've received from townsfolk, only to be parted with Goddess of Life crying over the group saying how sorry she is for sending you on such a dangerous mission, that she's scared and sad that she might not see any of you in the future!
And that if the mission fails, the whole Life on the planet will DIE.
You're the only hope.
No pressure. :3
That instills SO MUCH positivity and confidence, right? :D
