Before being disfigured and transformed by the Abyss, Sha'anan worked for the World Government as a biomechanics specialist.
Sha'anan kept her position despite her displeasure with the World Government's activities for the sake of her lone daughter, Carmel. Carmel suffered from severe mental problems as a result of her contact with the Abyssal creatures. And Sha'anan was unable to resign from her high-level position at the research institute.

Everything changed, however, when the silver dragoness and abyssfighter Kayneffa Pattern showed up at Sha'anan's homeworld.
In her youth, Kayneffa was an arrogant dragoness, and was really irresponsible with her abyssfighter powers.

Kayneffa sought to fix Carmel's mental problems by force, killing her in the process.

The loss of her daughter was the final straw for Sha'anan. She left the World Government after losing everything in her life. Sha'anan answered the call of the Abyss, which promised to bring her daughter back from the dead.

Over the years, Sha'anan rose through the hierarchy of the Abyss' servants. Her knowledge of biomechanics made her a formidable opponent. As she lost her mortality, Sha'anan was transformed more and more. Until the Abyss finally consumed her whole.
