Silly theory. Barclay was never a bandit but as successful adventurer, that is why he had a pretty nice keep with uniformed guards and wants to repay the favor instead of just running for the hills starting elsewhere. The bear set everyone up using the bounty system but got caught off guard when Bhadar got the idol on his own instead of taking a team trapping the mastermind in his own trap.
