Very late and very quickly made post today, since I had a pretty busy day. XD
During a visit to En'Edal, the largest oasis city state in the region, Nur visited the great temple of Akala, Goddess of Death, to bring offerings and pray for the souls of his twin brother and father, who died during the same war in which he lost half of his face.
Despite her scary appearance, Akala is an extremely benevolent Goddess, worshipped not only by warriors, but also by common folk. Also nicknamed "The Peaceful Mother", she holds the hand of the deceased as she guides them towards a serene afterlife. She is also invoked to heal people from sickness and to have mild winters, as she's considered the creator of snow and ice.

I think it says something about the older civilizations that they had such a chill relationship with death and the beings they ascribed to it. Modern Western society assigns it nothing but evil, yet you read the myths and they are the one's with the lowest pension for jerkery. I'm glad Anubis finally got some positive attribution in American Gods.
Always a fan of death gods that aren't evil and have a lot of nuance or a divine portfolio that's more than just death and the underworld. While initially unsettling in appearance, Akala seems to be a comforting presence in the face of one of the most terrifying and sorrowful experiences of all sapient mortals, and that's a nice thing to have in your spirituality.
You mentioned that she's worshipped by warriors, and I'm inclined to think that it's because they face death regularly and see Akala as a comforting presence and a way to process PTSD. They also probably pray to her so that she may spare them in the battles to come. I don't get the impression that warriors or anyone else would pray to her so that she may bring death to their enemies, but I could be wrong. That might be the purview of an actual war god.
I love all this lore and worldbuilding from your setting. Looking forward to seeing what the rest of the month brings!

Nice work, here, my dude! I feel I can relate a bit lore-wise, because my "death dude" is also kindly despite being the "keeper" of that aspect of existence. Granted, I'd say he himself doesn't look as "scary" as Akala here, but still.
Regardless of all that, very well done, even if it was a little rushed!
I guess, as noted by at least another person or two here, the death-entities of however many cultures actually not being so "bad/mean/what-have-you" isn't exactly that uncommon. But I digress.
