As a rape victim myself, what I see in journalism, our legal system and public is blaming the victim for what happened to them. This happens to males and females. For a female, it is far, far worse if she gets rape compared to us males. To quote evilpuppy on Live Journal when replying to something I said:

It might not apply to these particular cases, but it's still very real and no less traumatic and horrible. In some ways, I think it can be harder because as a man, you're expected to "be a man." The machismo comes out in spades and it almost seems like in order to solidify in their own minds that there's no way it could happen to them, they have to mock and deny that it can happen to any man at all.
I'm so very, very sorry you had to go through that, but I'm glad to see you talking about working towards getting over it as best you can. And I'm extremely impressed and proud that you're speaking out about it as well. It takes an immense amount of courage to do that and I hope you find out just how much that will mean to other male rape victims who read it and discover they aren't the only ones.
I urge everyone to write to their state and local Senators, Representatives, as well as their US Representatives and Senators demanding fair treatment for rape victims.
Last year an 11 year old girl was gang-raped by at least 18 young men and adults (at least three of which where over 21) in Cleveland, TX. The overall majority of the community held a town hall meeting vilifying the young girl, blaming her for getting raped. The high school was lamenting that they were losing the basketball season because two of their STAR PLAYERS were in jail and waiting trial for raping the girl. Why, because they were just ids, not knowing any better. BULLSHIT!!!

until a few years ago, i never admitted to anyone that i was raped...it was out of state, at a church function...he was bigger than me, older than me, and from one of the other churches...i didnt know who to trust, cuz i was supposed to be safe where i was...i still havent told my parents or anyone from church about it...on some level i feel like maybe i was too nice, too friendly, always giving people hugs n stuff...they always blame us girls for bein raped, sayin that we asked for it...
Angel, that is what the rapist counts on, we as rape victims need to stand up and demand justice. If that person is still there, go to your mom, and the church and report him (have your church elders discretely talk to the women and girls in the church to see if he has molested and raped others before and after you), call the police as well.
I... am one of probably very few people who managed to fight off their rapist. It was still traumatising and haunting. Anyone who knows me knows that at the mention of the word "rape" I go into a fit of rage. I consider it one of the most atrocious things another human being can do to another human being,
This. (know this is an "older post" but I want to say something about it.)
I have to ask, as one who has had people come to them about their rape/molestation, what are the authorities thinking? An 11 year old girl has just had some serious psychological damage done and all the "older" generation can think of is the rapists welfare. And it makes me so angry because it's so true. With my friend it was her brother and if she told her parents, they would still blame her for what happened.
Are we regressing back to the early developments of Western Civilization here?
If you don't mind, I'd like to spread this around to a few people.

I know, the quote was made from this LJ post http://evilpuppy.livejournal.com/377304.html you made back in 2011
