Gene was created on a research facility in space that was dealing with experimentation on Dark Matter energy, a group manage to create him using bio engineering, the idea was to create a human being that can be immune to all the side effects of the contamination that Dark Energy made, there were many attempts and Gene as the most successful, he wasn't only immune to contamination or side effects he also can harvest the Dark Matter energy used it, the only weakness he have is if he is exposed to Sunlight for too long the Dark Energy will be dissolve leaving him weak, that's why he uses a special coat that retain his Dark Energy in check but also suppresses his super human powers, if he remove his jacket he will be allowed to use full force of his powers.

Gene past as hole still a mystery and as a villain he might be more of a anti-villain despite his objectives of becoming the most powerful being in the known universe, but he also have a few moral standards he won't break by any means, he won't kill or harm innocents specially children and will not be fully loyal to anyone he doesn't trust, loyalty and trust must be earn.

He have his battles against Team Avalanche in many occasions and aid them sometimes, he even invaded certain places to acquire information on Dark Matter experimentation that could increase his potential.

Recently after a long lasting fight against Peter, he witness a power that he never saw before where he in his scientific mind describe it as "divine" and called it "The Power of Faith" which he believe is the ultimate power since is power that became from God himself to chosen people outside the 'religious' groups to become strong leaders, Gene wants this power for himself and believes Peter has it since Peter in his youth defeated a powerful man known Kaiser Von Fritz, a super human that was explain to have the "Golden Aura" powers and was a extremely efficient and strong leader. Gene believes the powers that was on Von Fritz first passed to Peter after Peter defeated him.
