The Kingdom of Parvus was extremely well known and established throughout the land. Having smaller cities connected to the kingdom itself all throughout the known continent. Boasting thousands of citizens consisting of peasants, merchants, nobles, and of course the royal family. But with such a large number of people living in the city, there of course came a demand from the higherups for able bodied people to serve the kingdom as faithful knights. Parvus had one of the largest armies in the entire country, both due to the amount of people in it as well as the vast amount of wealth that the kingdom can throw towards funding the army. But recently, there have been reporting of multiple dragon sightings from merchants and peasants who leave the castle walls to either conduct business or simply travel.
At first the nobles and royal family simply ignored those claims. Why, they were just the ramblings of the peasants! They’d find anything to complain about! But as the weeks went on, several stories began to overlap. All of them claiming similar things about the different dragons that were seen and spotted. The first one was a large red dragon. This one was a male and could normally be seen lazing about and sleeping out in the middle of open meadows or fields. Travelers tried to keep their distance from such a large beast. The second was an orange dragon. This one was a female and extremely muscular. She was most commonly seen prancing about while out in the open. This one seemed to be particularly chipper as the report stated. The third dragon was female as well, this one being a water dragon. Her behavior was a little different from the other two, this one seemingly more inquisitive about her surroundings. Some sea merchants and fishermen have had reports of their vessels getting picked up by this massive
beast and examined under her critical eye before getting released. The fourth and final dragon sighting was the most concerning. This one was a black dragon and was without a doubt the most unpleasant of the bunch. Several peasants have submitted reports of their caravans getting attacked and livestock eaten by this one. She always seemed to attack first and worry about consequences later. Not to mention she had quite a nasty temper.
But what really stood out to the king and queen as they read these recent reports submitted to them by the head of the adventurer’s guild was that all of these dragons were apparently intelligent and could speak the human language. But most puzzling of all was that when they were under observation by some of the guards and adventurers, while not engaging, they had caught glimpse of them all apparently…getting bigger? Before reverting back to their original height.
The King and Queen scoffed as they re-read the report. What did they take them for, fools? Such a phenomenon was obviously impossible. If it was then surely the kingdom’s most advanced mages would have figured that little parlor trick out ages ago.
“Getting bigger? Such ridiculous hogwash!” The Queen said haughtily as she flicked back her hair “Our troops are more than capable of taking down these beasts!”
“Exactly my dear,” said the King “This is exactly why these peasants can’t be trusted with anything. They keep getting simple facts wrong or are probably trying to scare us into giving the guild money so they can pocket it for themselves. Ha! As if we’re gullible enough to fall for such an obvious ruse! Why, I’m sure if one of those scaled creatures were to show up now, we’d have it down on the ground in no time!”
But just as the King had finished saying that, the alarm bell began to chime away frantically. In seconds, the kingdom courier burst into the room and stood at attention. “Your highnesses! We’ve spotted an orange dragon approaching the kingdom. What are your orders?” The king smirked “Well, speak of the devil, looks like now is a good time as any to show that foul beast the might of the biggest and best kingdom and army in the country! Send out the troops at once!” he commanded.
The courier blinked “Um, your highness, they might have some difficulty doing that,” he said bashfully. The King blinked “Oh? And what makes you say that?”
“Well, you should see for yourself,”
The three of them made their way out to the balcony and the courier pointed up towards the sky. Both the king and queen looked up and felt their jaws drop. Towering as high as the clouds themselves was the biggest dragon they had ever seen! This one was the orange dragon that
had been in the report. She was practically a walking mountain of muscle, looming high over the landscape like it was nothing more than a child’s toy model. And with each step the beast took resulted in the ground shaking tremendously.
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
Meanwhile, looming high up in the sky, Zizaly looked around in excitement as she observed her now extremely tiny surroundings by her feet. The day had started off pretty normal, however there was one key difference. When she had wanted to use her ability to change her size and allow herself to become bigger, she had decided to push herself further, much, much further than she had ever gone before. Resulting in her massive new height never before seen by any of the other dragons.
Zizaly had squealed in delight as she relished her new height, doing a happy little dance in place at the newfound ability she had just unlocked. It was amazing! She could rarely ever see the world from this height while flying, and now she’ll be able to reach new heights whenever she wanted. But all this sitting around was getting boring! Zizaly wanted to go for a walk right away and check out the sights from her new perspective as soon as possible.
Back at present time Zizaly looked around pleased as she observed the landscape. Mountains had been reduced to the size of simple throwing stone, trees were no bigger than moss, and the occasional humans she came across were barely even visible to her. But as she walked, something caught her eye, something glinting on the ground directly in her path. Curiously, Zizaly approached it. And as she got closer her eyes widened with delight. It looked like a human city! And not just any city, but an entire kingdom!
“Awwwww! It’s adorable!” Zizaly exclaimed as she gleefully stomped over to it eagerly. She rarely ever got chances to interact with humans, and now there was a whole kingdom of them right in front of her to greet. Plus, she normally never gets a chance to get close to human cities. This could be a once in a lifetime chance she gets to check out a human kingdom up close. And of course, say hi to those adorable, teeny weeny little humans!
Meanwhile in the Kingdom of Parvus, things were going less than ideal. The kingdom was in an uproar at the appearance of the colossal dragon. The biggest one in recorded history! And as soon as her voice boomed down calling them ‘adorable’ it was instant panic in the streets. People, peasants, and nobles alike were running around and screaming in fear at the sight of the gargantuan beast. But just as suddenly a shadow fell down over the entire kingdom. The panic stopped as everyone looked around in confusion as to what happened before turning their attention upwards.
RUMMMMMMBBBBBLLLLEEEE!
The dragon’s paw was reaching down from the sky towards them, displacing the air and shaking it as it descended down towards the ground. Panic once again reignited in full force in the streets as people began to run around in a frenzy as the dragon’s hand descended lower and lower. Zizaly’s paw reached down into the ground, tearing though the soft earth as easily as putting it though water. Zizaly giggled to herself “Amazing! It’s never been this easy to break into the ground. My strength really increased!” she thought to herself giddily. She circled her paw under the city and then brought it to the surface once again. Her paw broke through the earth, displacing hundreds of tons of dirt as she carried her paw upwards, the entire kingdom of Parvus resting in her palm.
Zizaly grinned happily as she held the extremely tiny kingdom up to her face “Hiya down there little guys! I’m Zizaly! Just your big friendly dragon neighbor passing by for a visit on her morning walk!” she said energetically. Zizaly smiled pleasantly as she looked down at Parvus “Wow! You little humans really make some strange stuff you know that? It’s like you little guys need a building for everything! Why are they all rectangles? Huh? What’s this thing? A farm? Ohhhh! Is that a library?! I’ve only heard about those!”
Zizaly’s voice shook the entirety of the Kingdom of Parvus as her childish and excitable nature took over while she eagerly looked over and examined the tiny kingdom and its people resting in her palm “Wow! You little humans really do live in those small boxes! I think I remember Okeana saying they were called houses I believe?” Zizaly stopped for a second to think about it before shrugging her titanic shoulders dismissively and turning her attention back to the tiny kingdom with a grin “I mean hey, whatever works little guys. But as momma said, ‘nothing beats the feeling of coming home from a long tedious hunt and relaxing in a nice big spacious cave!’ Plenty of room to relax and store your food! Hehehehe,” she giggled.
Zizaly might not have realized it, but the unintentional panic she had caused when she had showed up had almost completely died down at this point. The residents of the huge and prosperous kingdom of Parvus all looked at each other in confusion as they were all simply held in the dragon’s (apparently named Zizaly) palm. Everything they expected to happen never came. There was no stomping, no burning by fire breath, and no demand to turn over their treasure. Instead, the titanic creature was simply content to ramble on at a breakneck pace.
“Uhhh sir? I don’t think this Zizaly girl is all that bad. She doesn’t seem like a threat to the kingdom,” A guard said to his leading commander. The commander sighed “I think you’re right Sargent. Besides, I don’t think we’d make a dent in her anyway. Look at those scales, they’re way too big. We’d have a hard time piercing it even if she was small-mmmmmuph!” The commander was cut off as he and the entire kingdom was pulled up against Zizaly’s country sized chest as she brought them all into a hug. “Soooooo cute!” she laughed “Oh I’m definitely going to have to come back and pay all of you a visit some time. We’re neighbors after all! No sense in
avoiding each other!” Zizaly giggled, pulling her paw and kingdom away from her chest. She carefully slid the chunk of earth she had torn out of the ground back into the hole she had pulled it out of, sliding the entire kingdom of Parvus back into its original place on the ground. The citizens all looked up warily as Zizaly once more loomed above them. Zizaly waved down as smiled “See ya little guys! I wanna meet everyone next time!” she laughed and raised her foot. The kingdom gasped as the titan stepped over them, Zizaly’s paw landing on the other side of the Kingdom with a thunderous THOOM!
The King, Queen, Courier, and citizens all watched gobsmacked as the titanic creature stepped over their kingdom like it was a simple stone laying on the road and stomp away, the continent shaking with each one of her steps.
“Y-your highness?” the courier inquired weakly.
“I-I guess she’s now an official guest of the kingdom,” the King said feebly as he watched Zizaly disappear over the horizon “At least she was so pleasant about the matter,”
“Agreed your highness,” the young carrier said “Those hugs of hers were indeed quite pleasant,”
