Ok, some character shit for Gabe that is of no interest to anyone but me.
Before he met Janet in another dimension, Gabe was a soldier in a world not unlike our own, except with magic that isn't bullshit (it's just the insanity causing Lovecraft kind)!
Anyways, while he was in Afghanistan, Gabe ran into a THING THAT SHOULD NOT BE!! ™ and killed it with a stolen russian nuke. Through mechanics that I still haven't quite worked out yet, the THING THAT SHOULD NOT BE!!™ somehow stained his soul when he blew it up, and as a result Gabe became immortal.
Unfortunately coming back from death is a really traumatic experience, and after going through the agony of death and regeneration several dozen times, Gabe is now more or less completely insane. He doesn't have full blown MPD, but he does have tendency to black out and give way to one the archetypes that make up his personality, The Killer (seen here in his reflection), the Angel, and the Artist.
All three of them cause chaos of death, but the devil is in the details. The Killer is the only one of these that Gabe is aware of, and in his home reality he spends most of his time trying to keep it from hurting people who don't deserve to die.
