Every now and then Matt let's his symbiote indulge in consuming a lot of chocolate, it is a safer option to allow compared to letting it consume brains.

Why is chocolate specifically a good option?

Because of phenylethylamine, it's in one's brain chemistry along with many different things (plants, bacteria, fungus, animals), hence why chocolate is a good replacement for brains.

Because of the chemical mentioned produced by a brain, symbiotes can't produce it and need it to survive. And I want to think it has to be from a living person otherwise it would just decay.

I would think that recently killed people would fit the bill. Like seconds ago recently hence why I thought it was supposed to be from dead enemies.

I wonder what some funny moments between the two would be like?

Recently dead makes sense yes.
One I could think of is the symbiote always sneaking chocolate into the host's shopping cart when he has to go to the store.

Chocolate milk possibly, not sure about caramel. The host would eat it so I assume the symbiote would share some of the tastes the person has.

Heh, that'd be an amusing sight. Especially if the symbiote keeps eating the black pieces thinking it's chocolate and the host is just confused how is he losing.

Probably because either the symbiont spitting it out, or somehow is managing to reproduce it

Yea, spitting it out seems more likely, making a copy would leave an obvious black tendril attached to it that would lead back to it.

Well, I mean, I suppose that I had thought something along the lines of the copy being metal instead of plastic or wood. Maybe some form of black steel or cobalt? Or anyway I wonder what cobi would react to weather and how stuff like rain, clear skies, or very bad stormy weather might affect him

Well the symbiote goo can mimic the visual look of metal or plastic but he'd have to focus on keeping up the disguise on the items he made.

Nah, weather wouldn't affect him plus he'd be aware of a planet has weather in general.

I have the funny image of the two of them playing chess and the snake just trying to chew on a piece before spitting it out, saying something like “ how come so many nasty things look like chocolate” with Matt, just sighing and putting his head in his hands wondering why the snake just can’t act like a vaguely normal person.

I wonder if the two of them would enjoy hiking or some thing

Sorry, if I misunderstood some thing. I wonder what people other than Matt that cobi the snake would grow to feel attached to, in terms of the people matt deals with on a daily basis.

Matt is mid-twenties as for Cobi well, didn't really think about that part. Sort of thinking between 5 to 10, from construction to arriving on Earth.

Well that's a tricky one, didn't really think he'd need to or if there would be someone he could fall in love with, but as he would evolve as an individual he should be able to experience being in love eventually. With whom, there I have no clue though.

At first no, but he'd observe Matt's dreams, trying to make sense of the strange things his mind would conjure. And eventually he'd develop something akin to dreaming.
