I think she's cheating: Email goes the speed of electricity, and she can't run quite that fast (Santa would need to go about the same speed, and this one person explained how Santa is dead because he was vaporized from how fast he was going), so she must have either had someone press "SEND" just as she reached him, or had one of those dunking birds timed to press as she arrived, both would need two seconds to to sent and arrive, and she would be there only a second before it Email arrived.

The speed of light criss-crossing the globe (thanks cloud...) and each time in a queue. Always remember the importance of your local IXP and don't underestimate an on-prem exchange server (or Lotus ;) )

Back in the very early days of the Internet, I sent an email to a friend, and the next day sent a birthday card because birthday. Now this is from the US to the UK, but still, the card arrived first and the email took 2 weeks to arrive.

I can kind of relate. A few weeks ago, I sent a text to my boss. Three hours later, I arrived at his office and he asked me to answer questions that I had answered in my text. He received the text about 4 days after I sent it. This was in 2023 mind you.

Had a similar thing happen with a retail agent last year; one of the emails took several days to arrive.

Even under normal circumstances, an email taking several minutes isn't that unusual.

Several minutes isn't nearly as bad as several days. LOL

Its still got to get through all the spam filters. I've gotten emails from across the office that took 20 seconds to a minute to arrive

Did you perhaps base this on the fact that one company in South Africa tested whether sending their files across the country via USB or email was faster because one of the employers blames the slow file transfers on slow internet?
For those curious, USB won by 4 hours.
