They are nocturnal predators with a shocking amount of dexterity despite their size, standing at about 3 feet (~91 cm) at the shoulders. Their most striking feature is their nearly pure black fur, absorbing enough light to render them nearly invisible in dark environments. The downside to this is that, since their fur absorbs so much light, exposure to direct sunlight causes them to overheat very quickly, making them extremely susceptible to heatstroke.
Their sensitivity to the sun sometimes leads them to shelter from approaching daylight in less-than-ideal places, including sneaking inside of people's homes in extremely dire situations. This behavior earned them the nickname "darkseekers," which eventually became interchangeable with their real name.
Felnac have two pairs of eyes, the upper pair providing better visibility in lighter conditions, while the lower pair work best in darker conditions. Their primary, lower, pair of eyes are quite sensitive to sunlight and can easily be damaged from exposure.
They are remarkably intelligent, comparable to an adult human, making them significant foes when threatened, and also excellent companions. Thanks to their agility, combat prowess, and intelligence, they are extremely sought after as companions by those in dangerous fields, such as bounty and monster hunters, treasure hunters, and explorers.
Ohhhhhh boy, I love these guys so much. They were designed out of a desire to make something cute, fluffy, and fairly unique, while also staying somewhat believable. Whether I achieved that goal or not, I can't say, but I adore them so very much regardless.
They started off named just darkseekers, but I eventually decided to give them a more "realistic" name and started calling them felnac. They're sort of just a weird three-way hybrid between canines, felines, and snakes. The snake influence is relatively subtle, bearing itself mostly in the head, with the general head shape and the presence of folding fang-like teeth in their mouths, though they don't possess any venom.
There's a lot to say about these lovely fluffy boys, but I have to moderate myself lol, I can't just go on a wild tangent!
Much like the hellhounds, I am so far beyond satisfied with how Ket pulled these guys off, just took them and made them so much better than I could have ever done myself, and for that I am so unbelievably thankful.
