Unlike the rear pairs of legs, the front-most pair terminate in hand-like appendages, these act just like a human's hands, allowing the felnac to manipulate objects, use tools, or just carry items.
Thanks to the dexterity of their hands, felnac kept as companions may be given weapons, and can even learn how to use magic.

To prevent overheating, companions are often provided with coverings, with especially well-supplied darkseekers even given custom tailored base layers to accommodate armor and other equipment, while also adequately shielding them from sunlight.
They are also often equipped with similarly uniquely created goggles or eye coverings to prevent eye damage. When equipped properly, a felnac can perform in the daylight just as it could at night.

Felnac are, to many folk not living in cities, creatures of mystery and danger, viewed more as monsters than animals. This is in part due to the unfortunate genetic possibility of red eyes, leading many to believe they are inherently evil. They are, of course, not inherently evil, but superstition is strong, often leading to darkseekers being attacked on sight in more rural areas.
This has given many felnac a negative idea of humans, even among civilized felnac.

More lore! Wanted to throw some plausible superstition into their existence. We all probably know that real people can be very superstitious, for better or for worse, and people also seem to like having something to hate. So why not blame that recent sickness on those weird evil looking dog things that you see sometimes, they're deep black and have red eyes, so they look evil, so it must be them right?

But no, they're not evil, as I said above, so fret not! You absolutely can take the six-legged forest buppy and he will not kill you in your sleep or bring the plague to the next town you visit!

Also I love feral armor, clothing, and equipment, so I couldn't resist the opportunity to give them a reason to have that kind of stuff.
