I don’t know that much about this guy, but I would think that there could be a inner conflict between his avian and canine urges. That, and the fact that, as a werewolf, one could potentially be more violent than one would intend to be.

It's definitely some inner conflict, that's the crux of the whole moonwolf storyline. Not as much urges, but the conflict of "I'm a werewolf and don't want to be."
