Amongst the many activities of the Harvest Festival is the Junior League Snail Grand Prix. Wherein those youngsters bring their snails, or ride snails provided by local farms in a series of races to find the best snail handler before the snails go into hibernation. Often a pumpkin is hollowed out and fitted over the shells (gotta keep up the theme after all), and makeshift stirrups are tied about it to keep the fawns secure atop the loveable mollusks.

The pumpkins are fed to the snails afterward as a treat.

Here an excited doll dangles a turnip in front of her mount to lead it towards the finish line twenty meters away. They tried a hundred-meter race once, but we don't talk about that.
